about STRAWBERRY BOAT CD
“The creative process, during the making of this album, felt like a sanctuary. There’s something sacred about creativity. I definitely connect with a power greater than myself when making something new. It’s alchemy, I guess, and the experience is more wonderful than I can describe. It’s both humbling and empowering." —Lynn Patrick
SONG INSPIRATIONS
1. ”Deep Canyons” was inspired while on a writing trip in Moab, Utah. After studying petroglyphs, hiking, and taking a plane ride over the Canyonlands, I wrote this song. This land invokes the ancient and stirred feelings from deep within my soul.
2. “Morning After” is a song about the significance of a life experience that has impacted and changed one’s life.
3. “Strawberry Boat” is about adventuring on the water, exploring, drifting, being one with the wind and water, while taking in the beauty. The title of this album came from Monika Edgar’s painting Strawberry and Boat.
4. “Castaway Cove” is a song about kayaking with friends. We found a beach to hang out on, where we had a picnic, went swimming and felt appreciation for the peace experienced in the crystal clear water.
5. “Feel It In My Bones” is a song about intuition, feeling things down to the bone and trusting the depth of one's own inner wisdom and personal experience.
6. “Purple Moon” came about during a recording session on my keyboard. I came up with the beat of the song, then wrote guitar chords. It was really fun to write something in a process so different from my typical approach. This one reminds me of being on a beach in the moonlight.
7. “Red Poppy” came about while feeling loving kindness.
8. “Moving Compassion” came from feelings of open heartedness and compassion, feelings I hope are always in my life.
9. “Crazy, Beautiful World” came from a feeling of sadness about the difficulty and craziness of the world. While writing this song, I delved into a place of commemoration of all that’s beautiful, loving, and positive on this Earthly journey.
10. “Blue Beach With Friends” - I wrote this song while staying at a house on a beach in Cozumel, Mexico with friends. We went sailing, snorkeling, and swam with beautifully colorful fish.
11. “June Fawn” was inspired after seeing a newborn fawn outside my kitchen window one morning. That little being with its coat of many spots was so sweet and beautiful.
12. “In My Dreams” is about daydreaming, wondering, imagining…
